telc
L-Pub created an app for the language testing institute telc gGmbH, based on their book “Einfach zum Studium! Deutsch für den Hochschulzugang C1” which prepares aspiring students for the language exam required to attend a German university. In the app, learners can read and listen to the texts in the book, look up unknown words by tapping on them and then store them in a personal learning list. A series of automatically generated exercises can be launched from the learning list to help commit the words and phrases to memory. Access to the first chapter is free of charge.
Helmut Buske Verlag
L-Pub created a version of the vocabulary trainer app “vobot” for Helmut Buske Verlag, based on their German-Georgian dictionary “Wörterbuch Deutsch-Georgisch / Georgisch-Deutsch” by Michael Jelden. Users can look up words in Georgian or German and get translations and definitions. They can also add words to their personal learning list and practice them in a series of multiple choice exercises. Beginning learners or travellers may wish to start with the Georgian alphabet which consists of 33 unique characters. These can be added to the learning list via the Info section of the app. Learn more about the app here.
Ernst Klett Sprachen
L-Pub has collaborated with Ernst Klett Sprachen on the development of the Language Level Evaluator (LLE) – a tool to automatically classify texts to a CEFR level (A1-C2). We use this tool to classify texts for our StoryPlanet app as well as to provide publishers with analyses for a small fee. A free version of the LLE with limited functionality is accessible for registered users on the Der-Die-DaF-Portal.
LLE DEUTSCH ON THE DER-DIE-DAF-PORTAL
Technische Universität Darmstadt
L-Pub is working with TU Darmstadt on a research project called a!, which stands for automated language instruction. The project has been made possible through Hessen ModellProjekte with funding from the program “LOEWE – Landes-Offensive zur Entwicklung Wissenschaftlich-ökonomischer Exzellenz, Förderlinie 3: KMU-Verbundvorhaben”. TU Darmstadt is using Machine Learning to inform the LLE (see Ernst Klett Sprachen above) and improve the adaptive learning algorithms used by L-Pub to automatically create exercises.
